Summer H., our General Manager at the Russellville location, can change oil and write a lesson plan. She’s been in and out of the automotive industry, but her desire to help mentor young people has remained a constant.
For 10 years in the early 2000’s, she did work at SuperFast Lube & Oil, but upon graduating with her Master’s Degree, she decided to step away from the Oil Change business and into being a teacher.
She was passionate about helping to shape the next generation and did that as a Teacher in the Russellville school district for almost 7 years after graduation. She loved coaching “Quiz Bowl” in her time there.
When Splash purchased SuperFast Lube in 2019, we heard story after story, from both customers and Team Members, about Summer. Customers ranted and raved about her and the team reinforced that.
We gave her a call & asked if she’d have any interest in joining the SuperFast Team again. We knew we needed someone who loved the community and knew them by name.
When she shared with us about her desire to pour into the younger generation, we knew that she’d be a great fit. We shared with her that we needed a General Manager who was passionate about developing and leading people, not just someone to ensure managerial tasks were done. We expressed our desire for her to come back on board and take the valuable experience she gained as a teacher and use it to positively impact the SuperFast Team Members.
Admittedly, while teaching, she said that she missed the fast-paced nature of the job, the ability to get her hands dirty, and the customer care she was able to provide at SuperFast. When it “clicked” for Summer, she realized that she could have both, working in a fast-paced environment, and develop the next generation.
She re-joined the team in 2020. Since then, she’s dedicated herself to building a culture at her store that is centered around mentorship and development. She’s done just that, and now, we have multiple Team Members who have been poured into and have stepped into larger leadership roles.
We’re always looking for leaders who have that desire.
